生物藥物是指運用微生物學、生物學、醫(yī)學、生物化學等的研究成果，從生物體、生物組織、細胞、器官、體液等。綜合利用微生物學、化學、生物化學、生物技術、藥學等科學的原理和方法制造的一類用于預防、治療和診斷的制品。

生物制藥原料以天然的生物材料為主，包括微生物、人體、動物、植物、海洋生物等。隨著生物技術的發(fā)展，有目的人工制得的生物原料成為當前生物制藥原料的主要來源。如用免疫法制得的動物原料、改變基因結構制得的微生物或其它細胞原料等。生物藥物的特點是藥理活性高、毒副作用小，營養(yǎng)價值高。生物藥物主要有蛋白質、核酸、糖類、脂類等。這些物質的組成單元為氨基酸、核苷酸、單糖、脂肪酸等，對人體不僅無害而且還是重要的營養(yǎng)物質。
